'Always Be Closing'

We love closers. Guys and gals who simply deliver, who produce results, who finish the job.   I see this in sports all the time.  Despite the new bloods like Lebron and Wade and Durant in the NBA, we still hail Kobe Bryant as the King of the sport.  Why? Not necessairly because he's the best player, but because he is the best closer.

Remember being a kid and pops giving you the game on fighting? What did he say? He would say, "Don't start it, but damnit, finish it!".

The closer is simply the one who brings it home when it matters. Forget the talent, skill, savvy, and overall game. At the end of the day, do you get the job done? That is what makes a person in his or her profession.  Luxury or curse, the methods are simply not of interest, the results are.

Some have the style but lack the substance. Some are smart as hell but lack the fortitude to follow a thing through to its end. Others aren't as intelligent, but they possess the persistence and savvy to somehow see a job to completion.

Whatever the case, it is the winners, the closers, the finishers that earn our respect. This famous Alec Baldwin scene from the movie Glengarry Glen Ross wakes me up everyday and reminds me to finish what I start. "Only one thing counts in this life, get them to sign on the line which is dotted!"  A.B.C.  Always Be Closing!
