Summer of Love? Not Here. Not Now.

So let us review:

-White Cop Johannes Mehserle convicted on involuntary manslaughter but aquitted on murder charges after shooting unarmed black man Oscar Grant in the back while he was laying face-down...on camera. Protests ensue demanding racial equality in the justice system

-Media firestorm begins concerning New Black Panther Party and voter intimidation at a voting poll location..and supposedly the Obama administration's refusal to prosecute.

-Jesse Jackson calls out Cleveland Cavs owner Dan Gilbert regarding his comments on the LeBron James leaving to join the Miami Heat. Jackson says its a slave-owner's mentality.

-NAACP issues a challenge asking the Tea Party to denounce racism. Tea Party has yet to denounce, while making claims that there is no racism. Instead, they accuse the NAACP of being racist.

-Case regarding SB1070. Arizona's anti-immigration law which leaves way for racial profiling is heard before a federal district court. While people of color, human rights organizations, and immigration advocates line up to fight against the bill, support for the bill is indeed high among many in Arizona and the country.

-Mock letter by a Tea Party member to Abe Lincoln insulting blacks.

All these stories within the past 10 days.

I THINK WE HAVE A RACE PROBLEM HERE IN THIS SOCIETY....STILL!!
This American society needs to decide what its gonna be.. Can it be a place where people of different faiths, races, nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds can live together under the banner of all being human beings? Or will it be a place where distrust and disdain between races will continue to persist and tear.

If the latter is true, then our society will not survive.  Ethnic and class struggle will tear us apart at the seems.

I used to believe what they told me about America being the beacon of the human potential.  Maybe.  But if something like race (Race? How people look? Their background?) can threaten to tear this society apart, then it seems clear to me that it is also the beacon of human stupidity.

There's is nothing more stupid than racism, whoever is guilty. It means you lack the most basic human quality as it pretains to living and interacting with our fellow man. Its a loveless society at its grandest.

Lets try to walk in love. Its a whole lot better that way, I assure you!
